Description

...just the part of some of the stuff that I've had (usually pictured just befor the sale)...recently I have discovered the tube amplificatiom (hello Columbus) and just when I thought that I should explore more,I read that the tubes are on life support... with D class coming (in the words of R.Karlsen from Atmasphere himself  )Still have to photo the room and the system to put it here (I even do not use the smartphone, so have to rely on good mood of my girfriend to put everything up)... but the source is still Burmester 089 player, speakers are Franco Serblin's Lignea (the Guraneri's were too big and the Avantgarde Acoustic horns did not like much) and the amplification (my first all tube one) is from Unison Research (the only photo that is from web).It is rather simple 30w A class pse that plays lovely and I am very curios to try some more serious tube stuff...and perhaps the Atmasphere D class, after reading some of R.Karlsen posts here...

Last update. New speakers, Franco Serblin Accordo instead of Lignea, Burmester 036 instead of Unison Research amps. The 089 Burmester player goes directly to an amp, until I got the matching Burmester preamp

Alex, I have only heard the Accordo's in a couple of systems. The GH's and the Accordo's are certainly cut from the same cloth. Franco knew what he was doing. I think the GH's are slightly more resolving, but the Accordo's drop a little lower in the bass. I could easily live with either speaker.

@daveyf ,well, you just might be right. The GH's were certainly the 'dream' speaker for me and it took me a while to admit to myself that I need a bigger room for them. For now I am very happy with Accordo's, soundwise and overall as they are made from the same 'cloth' as GH. I would be very curios to hear your impressions about them, because you could tell me how do you think they compare with GH's. Few years have passed since I owned them and I can remember the impressions, but the actual sound is less present in my ear and memory

Alex, you make a great point about the size of the speaker to the room, one which i totally agree with BTW. Indeed smaller is often better.
Luckily, in my room, which has smaller width and length dimensions than yours, i have a saving grace...and it is the fact that i have a vault ceiling that goes up to over 13'. This increases the volume of the room and allows the GH's to shine. I think if you had a higher ceiling that you would then have plenty of volume in your room for the GH's.

@daveyf  Wrote that Gh's were too big in context of the size of my room or at least of my idea how big some room should be for some speakers. Accordo's have smaller cabinets and shorter stands than Gh's and are just about the max size speaker that I would put in a room that has dimensions like mine. In fact, Lignea, which is speaker with really tiny sized drivers made a huge stage in my room and I strongly believe that 'smaller is often better' (when speaking about speakers,of course)  Saw the photos of your room, nice and elaborate system by the way, but I would be reluctant to put GH's there, if I wanted to hear their max potential. Please dont get me wrong, it is only my idea of speaker/room correlation

Nice system. One question, you stated that the GH's were too big?? Yet you are now using the FS Accordo's. Can you elaborate a little on why the GH's were too big? I have never heard anyone say that about GH's before.

Wonderful combination of wood and tubes. Must sound great.

Nice pics Alex but some details please? I see Burmester pre and amp, a Dimitri power conditioner but what are those speakers? And sources?
