This rig is all about jamming out. I’m not a sweet spot kinda guy, I just feel like Led Zeppelin didn’t go at the end of a recording session go “man some 47 year old guy is gonna love sitting in one spot listening to this”
I can honestly say I never in my wildest dreams expected to get this far… I almost have car audio bass on my home
I moved and almost started a used gear company. Not a single piece that’s here now was here a year ago. I call this system shock and awe😀
I feel like I’d like to move to a different analog crossover and digital room EQ. I don’t know why every high end DAC doesn’t come with one now… only makes all the sense in the world.
I liked this one a lot more than the Directstream and is a bargain right now on the used market. When I told that to PS Audio they said I’m not the first person to say that.
PS Audio P10
DBX PA2
Room Correction and Crossover, fantastic unit. I traded a little bit of detail to gain a ton. It’s super anti audiophile and actually works very well for my system. I would prefer another option that remains in the digital arena but there’s not much currently.
PBN Kick Ass Speakers
I listed after these for 3 years and knew they’d be what I want. I bought them sound unheard and am floored they’re so much better than I expected. Peter Noerbaek is a master of his craft.
Huge sound, unbelievable soundstage, the scale is awesome and unless your crazy like me they’re one of the few speakers that don’t need subs, by crossing them over and using subs I can run a lower power amp and I also can turn my subs up for electronic and rap music as well as get really really well done acoustic music😀
Acoustic Elegance DIY TD18’s in 8 cu ft. Boxes
These are just unreal. I was previously running 3 JL fathom subs and as soon as I put them in I was just like “oh they were cute😂” I’ve owned 11 W7’s and fathoms, I’ve also owned TAD 1801’s, Aura NS18’s I also built.
I’ve owned probably 15-20 3-6K subs and these are by far the best drivers I’ve heard. They do everything right and a 400 watt @ 4 ohm amp is more than plenty of power
Prana Wire Kensho Power Cables
I have 3 and will never ever sell them. Amazing tube like sound somehow. Don’t ask I don’t get it either. It’s just awesome
Audioquest Hurricane Power Cables
I own 3, they’re just great cables. All I can say about it.
Since your into the Led, give "Widespread Panic"...Album - "Light Fuse Get Away" a whirl on the rig of yours. The live recording will rock into your neighbors basement.
Awesome room. Awesome system and stick to your guns. I am 60 and am right there with ya brother. It's about the music and what it can do for the spirit. Try Nothing but Thieves / Broken Machine on that rig of yours and you will smile for a week.
I sold it to a really good friend along with a Premier 140 to power some Dynaudio C2’s. Phenomenal preamp I cannot recommend enough.
I owned a P1200 and my tree guys arched my power lines and blew up everything… my power cable welded itself to the outlet but all my gear survived and the P1200 just needed repair. The room was filled with smoke.
With it I started listening to albums all the way through again. Phenomenal piece and the sonics are incredible. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
Never done theater but I’m sure it would have the same effect.
And we wonder why this hobby is dying that’s filled with bitter old men that never want to support anything that isn’t exactly what they think is right.
As someone who’s worked hard to support this hobby for 20 years, don’t ever be that guy dude. Everyone hates that guy. Your the folks that scare newbies away and kill this hobby.
"digital room EQ. I don’t know why every high end DAC doesn’t come with one now"
Try Roon's DSP Engine. You can use (free) REW software tools to measure and save room correction parameters to a file which can be uploaded directly into Roon.
BTW - aren't you a little young for Led Zeppelin :)
