JPS Labs ABYSS AB-1266 - KNOCK-OFFS

This is going to take some explanation. The Listing is for a pair of COUNTERFEIT Abyss 1266 headphones (original version) - these are NOT genuine Abyss's.

So, here's the story - a few years ago I purchased these believing they were genuine Abyss'. I received them and actually loved the quality and had no idea they weren't genuine. Until that is . . . I decided to re-sell them here (to purchase the upgraded PHI model). I started getting very aggressive messages from a troll accusing me of trying to sell "fakes". I told him to get lost, but something about his claims stuck in my mind.

So, I contacted JPS Labs directly and explained the situation. They invited me to send the phones to them for evaluation, and sure enough, they confirmed that they were fakes. I won't bore you with the details, but I was able to come to a resolution with the original Seller, who (apparently) had no idea they were fake either. Obviously, I cancelled the listing and moved on.

I recently contacted JPS Labs again to see if they would have any objections to me reselling them, clearly marked as fakes, and they said, "go for it" (they really are great guys over there).

So, to the details. How do they sound? As I said, I was very impressed form the get-go. Now, that, said, I am NOT going to make any claims that they sound "just like the originals". What I will say is that at the time I bought them, I also had a pair of Focal Stellia's and ZMF Verite C's (so I'm no stranger to quality headphones), and in specific ways I felt these matched or exceeded their performance, particularly in the almost unbelievable level of detail. I played hi-res files through a very solid system and was thoroughly impressed. You may naturally assume I have a biased opinion, but I can confidently state that these do NOT sound anything like cheap, junk headphones.

Obviously, take all of that for what it's worth. This is clearly uncharted territory, so here's how I will handle the listing:

The Buy It Now price is set at the typical Bluebook amount for the originals, but I am going to allow "Make an Offer" amounts down to a very low level, and I will consider any reasonable Offer.

Maybe you're just looking to nab a decent quality pair of cans for a steal, or maybe you're a hobbyist who's always wanted to disassemble something like this but never dared do it on a full-price pair. Whatever the case - "go for it"!

NOTE: Prior to shipment, I will be physically scratching out the fake SN's to ensure there is no confusion over my representation of these.
