Why These B-3s?
• Expert Restoration: Specializing in V-fet amps, I've addressed all reliability and performance issues while preserving the amps’ renowned transparency and sound stage signature.
• Premium Upgrades: Low noise custom components; all premium replacement components are very closely marched across both amps, to ensure optimized BTL performance. The main reason I am only selling these two B-3s as a pair, is because of the time it takes to match components within each amp and also across both amplifiers.
About the Yamaha B3(s) and their fantastic sound:
The Yamaha B3 amps are recognized to have one of the most clear and engaging sound signatures. The transparency and dynamic range of these amps is superb. When used in mono-block / BTL mode, they deliver about 200wpc into 8 ohms and become serious power houses, doing it all effortlessly and with one of the lowest THD of any amps (old or new) ….about -100db THD+N and -110db THD

About Myself and why the affinity for V-fet / SIT gear:
With the craziness of today’s hi-fi world where gear competes in looks more than in sound attributes, where cables or other miscellaneous accessories can reach 5-fighures, it is difficult to know what is real or snake oil. After multiple years of search and hundreds of hours of experimenting with new gear, I decided to go back to basics and look for what was already made and that was considered TOTL in prior decades. The search took me to V-fet / SIT amplifiers. After some experimentation, my realization was that some of the best hi-fi gear has already been invented. “V-fet” was my way forward and never looked back. As such, over the past decade I managed to build likely the largest collection of V-fet amplifiers privately owned anywhere. As a result, I now own every V-fet / SIT amplifier made in Japan and multiple of each.
The additional challenge I had to overcome was that V-fet amplifiers in original condition require an extensive level of restoration and there are very few technicians that fully understand these amplifiers, and almost none who would be willing to deliver the work quality that meets my requirements. As a result, I also had to specialize on working on all the Japanese V-fet amps, putting decades of prior experience in electronics (as a hobby) to good use.
With the help of modern parts and materials, and many decades of data, I developed different mods and enhancements, and I can now resurrect some of these best-of-all-time to a level beyond their original factory performance. As of the date of this listing, I worked on more V-fet gear than most of anyone else.
