Pioneer SX-1080

This is a fully restored 120 watts/channel vintage receiver with beautiful cosmetics. The restoration includes: replacement of all electrolytic and tantalum capacitors, including the main filter caps. Film caps were used for 3.3 uF and smaller values. Replacement of known troublesome transistors. All heatsinked transistors were removed and reinstalled with new insulators and compound. All lamps were upgraded to LED. All switches were cleaned with contact cleaner and DeOxit D5. All controls were cleaned with contact cleaner and DeOxit F5. The variable resistors on the driver board were replaced.
The knobs and faceplate were cleaned and polished. The wood cabinet was refreshed with Watco Danish Oil. The wood cover has a small dent in the rear right corner that was lightly sanded and stained to match the veneer. The faceplate has a scratch along the top right edge. These are both shown in the pictures.
Finally, a full alignment was completed: AM, FM, MPX, DC offset and amplifier bias. I used this receiver in my own set up for about 18 months and now need to make room for new additions.

The speaker connectors were upgraded to gold plated copper binding posts so it will easily fit into a modern system.

I am a retired electrical engineer and this is now my hobby. I enjoy taking my time and attending to the details that would be difficult to include if I was trying to make a living at this. I have restored over a hundred receivers, pre-amps, and amps  from Sansui, Yamaha, Kenwood, and Pioneer. Each one is a labor of love!
This receiver was carefully packed using high density foam and a heavy-duty box to ensure it arrives in excellent condition.
