Pro Ject T1

Pro-ject calls the T1 an "Audiophile Entry Level Turntable".  Despite the low price, it's amazingly well-engineered.  From its CNC machined, anti-resonant, MDF plinth, to its zero-resonance glass platter, the T1 is designed to bring out the music in your collection.  Add to this the belt-driven platter, an ultra-precise 0.001mm main bearing with hardened steel axle and brass bushing.  The real key is a good tonearm.  No skimping here either.  The lightweight, hollow aluminum tube tonearm sports an Ortofon OM 5E moving magnet cartridge.
