Analog Domain DAC1 in excellent condition. This is a very unique DAC that is essentially a delta-sigma-R2R hybrid using the M5865 chip offering the best of both worlds in digital conversion. Unit can operate in both 110V and 230V via voltage selection switch at the rear. Sparingly used in a second system, no dings or scratches anywhere.
The DAC1 has outperformed and displaced the Chord DAVID, TotalDAC d1-tube and MSB Analog DAC that I previously owned. It struck the perfect balance in terms of being not as sharp and tipped-up as the Chord DAVE, not as gentle and soft as the TotalDAC d1-tube, and not as thick and rounded as the MSB Analog DAC.
Analog Domain is renowned for their extreme audio engineering and ultra-fi high-powered amps costing $150K to $250K, and this pedigree trickles over to their take on a digital source that is just as exceptional. I've owned a few impressive sounding DACs in the $10K~$20k range and I consider the Analog Domain DAC1 to be an extraordinary piece.
Sad to see this DAC go as I am disbanding my second system that also includes a pair of the breathtaking Sound Kaos Vox 3a speakers in walnut with wooden stands -- pls inquire if interested.
I will take care of the shipping cost from Korea via UPS in original flight case. But PayPal will add 4.6%. Wire transfer also accepted.
For those who are interested in the technical aspects, here's an excerpt from the Mono & Stereo review describing the very unique digital conversion aspect of the DAC1:
"M5865 chip is almost exclusively used in the best professional equipment. It's a 5-bit r2r-enhanced delta sigma, working at really high octane speeds. This is, in fact, a 31-level ladder enhanced delta sigma because the actual ladder is not resistive. It features a dual fully differential topology, that promises the lowest distortion of any DAC chip. This particular concept has been taken further in the design of the DAC1 right up to the output - full symmetry of all subsequent circuits."
