By design, the Nakamichi Stasis amplifiers were quite different from conventional designs that used global feedback. Without getting into technical details, these amplifiers are inherently stable with any load and always maintain uniform output impedance with no distortion. Because it has no negative feedback it has no distortion. To supply the demand for power, this PA-7A used a massive 700 watt toridal transformer and will deliver up to 50 amps of current per channel. 16 output transistors per channel provide the power to drive any speaker you choose.
I probably should have started with the fact the Nelson Pass designed these amplifiers. He personally holds more amplifier design than anyone or any company on the planet. He loves to bias his designs to run slightly into pure class-A territory. This amp is no different and has a smooth, warmth that draws you into the music.
This amp is the MK II and they refined some of the interior layout and power supply lines. Also fixed the protection issue and the overheating problems. This may be one of the best values you'll find in a truly audiophile power amp. Nakamichi used slightly better components than the similar Thresholds so listeners prefer the Nakamichi's.
