Sounds like a Krell with amazing grain free audio quality and outstanding ability to drive difficult loads. Excels with lower impedance speakers. I’ve used several class d amps and each had an initial clean, clear sound that was impressive, however, after a few months of living with them something always seemed missing. IMO, the natural warmth and deep bass tonality that Odyssey and a couple other high end class A and class AB amps offer is what makes music sound real and the class D’s I’ve tried just don’t match when critically listening.
Comparison to other similarly priced amps: most recent are Parasound Halo a21+, a51, a31. All provided less soundstage depth, resolution and had a bit of graininess or haze in the midrange compared to Odyssey. Sound quality from the Odyssey is simply a league above. With 4ohm speakers, the Odyssey is clearly the superior amp. It drives bass deeper and has a much cleaner grain free midrange - it was actually Halo that made me understand Odyssey’s power and sound quality. Bass depth and finesse of Odyssey is superior to those listed - all my opinion of course. Klaus says more than a few high end speaker manufacturers use his amps for testing and tuning, and I understand why - Odyssey’s are very high quality and easily show speaker and upstream component capabilities. Don’t mean to be too critical of Halo, they are quality, well regarded amps, and I enjoyed them, but the Odyssey provides sound quality that’s on a different level.
The only amps I prefer to Odyssey are the new Krell Duo xd and McIntosh quad balanced amps, which are substantially more expensive (comparing a $2000 amp to $10000 + amps doesn’t seem fair but Odyssey really is in the same sonic league at lower power levels).
From Odyssey history doc:
“Odyssey works very closely with Symphonic Line…..Germany in design and production……together we created the Odyssey series…….designs are pure Symphonic Line’s……to be seen as little brothers of the RG’s or Kraft Reference’s”.
If you want beautifully balanced sound quality, low impedance drive capability, and unbeatable value, it’s hard to beat Odyssey Audio. Amp has many upgrades including: boards, power supply xfmr, capacitors, internal cables, deluxe case with lighted logo, as shown on build sheet.
Includes original shipping box and packaging for safe delivery and a standard power cord. Amp is in very good condition. Purchased new in 2019, used for a couple years then placed in factory boxes and stored in a spare closet - wife says it’s time for them to go! This listing is for (1) 2 channel amp. I have another 2 channel and a mono amp available.
