I purchased this turntable in 2017 and immediately sent it to STS turntable in Tennessee. STS specializes in restoring/repairing Thorens turntables. The 160B was rebuilt including upgrades in tonearm and output RCA cables. A new power cord was also added.The plinth was polished and set in a totally refinished and repainted base.
In 2018, I took the table to Just Audio in White March, MD. A technician, who specializes in turntables, installed a Rega tonearm (I wanted something different from the stock Thorens tonearm).He also installed an Otello cartridge by Soundsmith ($600.00). The combination of the tonearm cable upgrade and the cartridge brings vinyl to life with an INCREDIBLY WIDE SOUNDSTAGE. The Otello has less than 30 hours of play.
The 160B Mkii is extremely clean and is in VERY GOOD condition. The customization will give you endless possiblities for output cabling. Thank you for viewing my ad.
