The sought after version with top of the range Esoteric VRDS-Neo drive - earlier this year Esoteric have stopped supplying dCS with their (best in the world) SACD drives, so dCS had no other option, but to change the drive inside the Vivaldi to a much cheaper SACD drive from Stream Unlimited. No one would pay as much for a cheaper drive so they have LOWERED the price from $47000 to $37000 and changed the name to mk.2. For this reason, the original Esoteric based Vivaldi transport is still the one to get, if you are after the ultimate fidelity and reliability.

It is important to note, that although Esoteric is not providing dCS with complete transport mechanisms to build new products anymore, they DO continue to provide them all spare parts for the transports already sold, so those VRDS transports will be servicable in years to come. Probably even longer than Stream Unlimited based ones.
