Verity Audio Sarastro mkII - Mint, Mint, Mint, Virtually New Old Stock!

This offering is for a pair of very unique Verity Audio Sarastro II Loudspeakers in a rare factory "Hand Rubbed Oiled Maple" finish. This pair of speakers was recovered by the current owner from  a luxury condominium in Panama owned by elderly family members.

These speakers are unique given that they were purchased brand new by the family in 2010 and then subsequently moved to their Panama home with the intention of use during their very occasional visits. (Note that this property was literally one of seven homes owned around the world, some of which were very rarely occupied.) Each home had it's own high end audio system and each home was meticulously maintained even when vacant (climate controlled and cleaned regularly).

Unfortunately health issues experienced over the last decade thereafter prevented the use of the Panama condo and the speakers remained unused and staged in the condo until very recently. The referenced family member charged with systematically liquidating the estate homes recently collected all items of interest and value from the Panama property, including these Sarastros. The condo was sold and the speakers were shipped back to the USA.

While hard to believe, the current referenced owner indicated that these speakers were simply not used with the associated stereo system only even turned on once or twice (REALLY!). If we were talking about collectable automobiles, this would be an enviable "barn find"!

Not only are these speakers not remotely broken in, they are cosmetically perfect and the speakers themselves are complete. It should be noted, however, that the original metal flight cases were disposed of many years ago and are no longer available through us or Verity Audio.

Important Note: These are original "Sarastro II" versions and not the latest "IIS" configuration. The speakers themselves in both cases are identical, but the newer "IIS" version added the separate "MASIS" Isolation Platform in 2015/16. The Sarastro II speaker was easily upgraded in recent years, with a separate purchase of the platforms, however original MASIS Isolation platforms are no longer available.

The Sarastro II is a two-cabinet, floor-standing, three-way, bass-reflex loudspeaker belonging to Verity’s "Extended Range Series". The top cabinet features a wide-spectrum midrange and proprietary ribbon tweeter that’s built in-house. The bottom cabinet houses an impressive 11 inch bass-reflex rearward woofer. Both cabinets are isolated by a solid aluminum platform coupled with special elastomer pads. The bottom cabinet of the Sarastro II is floor-coupled via traditional spikes. The Sarastro exhibits a high 93 dB SPL 1 watt/1 meter sensitivity and inherits from the best Verity Audio technologies, making the Sarastros and excellent option for lower powered amplifiers.

The midrange and woofer drivers are special-geometry mineral-filled polypropylene cones optimized for maximum cone rigidity, low energy storage and smooth breakup. A generous ventilation system minimizes voice-coil dynamic compression and only the best quality materials are used for a lifetime of reliability and accuracy. Note that factory grills (brand new) are also included but not shown in the photos. Please also note that factory magnetic tweeter protectors are installed in our photos.
