Joule Electra VZN-350 Destiny RARE OTL Mono Amplifiers Stunning!

Offered here is a very special pair of amplifiers. Founded in the mid 1990's by Jud and Marianne Barber, Joule Electra made it's name in the salad days of high end audio by building some of the finest tube equipment in high end audio. Many audiophiles are familiar with Jud's smaller OTL designs such as the VZN-100 amplifiers and Marianne preamplifiers. These were lauded by many publications over the years and won many awards. Quietly in the background Jud offered these monsters of OTL goodness the VZN-350 Destiny mono OTL amplifers. 

We offer this two owner pair for your consideration. This pair was purchased from the original owner in 2017 here on Audiogon. These amps saw very little use and the original owner claimed around 10 hours of use. In 2017 upon receiving the amplifiers I ran a full listening and bench test of the amplifiers with perfect results, the amplifier were then placed back in their crates and moved to temperature controlled storage. The amplifiers were never installed by the second owner. I have just finished unpacking the amps and setting them up in our listening room and can say these amps are beyond special. Music flows like nothing I've ever heard. By far the best sounding amps I've had in my system!

If you are a Joule Electra fan these amps will be the pinnacle of your collection! If you have not had the experience of owning Joule Electra an amazing experience awaits you!!
There are a few things to be aware of when considering owning these amplifiers. Number one is heat, these amplifiers dissipate around 1500 watts of power at idle. Proper air conditioning in your listening room is not an option, but on a positive note heating is not required in the winter!! The amplifiers REQUIRE dedicated 20amp circuit for EACH amplifier. This is not an option, trying to run both on a single circuit will most likely trip the breaker. I would not recommend high efficiency speakers with OTL amps, the amps are very quiet but you may get some buzzing if you are trying to run them on a set of 105db horns!  Lastly the amplifiers are very large, see the photos next to my not small Pass Labs 350.8, they are big beautiful babies! 

So now the details. Amplifiers have the music wood option which was a $5000 option when built. They also have the matching Critical Mass Systems bases which was also a $5000 option. The amps are finished in a beautiful piano black lacquer. Included are a full set of tubes which all test 95%++ and 5 extra 6C33C power tubes that are new. The amplifiers require 4 power cables and we are including 4 generic power cords.

The amps are in excellent shape with light swirling in the lacquer from cleaning. There are a couple of fine hairline cracks in the finish in a couple of the corners, nothing serious that can be seen from over a couple feet away.  Amps function perfectly and come right up to operating temps in about 15 minutes.
