Art Audio / Backert Labs mod MM/MC Phono Stage

This is a Backert Labs prototype phono stage, the precursor for their Rhumba phono. It was built off of an Art Audio Vinyl One but as you'll see from the build sheet, not much of the AA design was carried forward.

It's smartly uses a 5751-based gain circuit, offering reduced noise and microphonics vs. the 12AX7s often used in tube phonos. All of Backert's preamps are highly regarded (it's all they make) and they proudly used this unit in their audio shows for years. 

The Build Sheet in the pictures details the proprietary design and parts used such as V-Cap Teflon, top-line Mundorfs, etc. It's very dynamic and musical/natural sounding.

MC loading is 100 ohms and MM loading can be set at 47K or 1K. I didn't get a gain spec but it's on the high side. Premium gold pin Sylvania Gold 5751 tubes are included. These are NOS as I've just installed them for this sale.

It looks very good overall but it does have some nicks from its travels. Faceplate is clear and shiny/reflective.
