The Motive SX2 speakers have evolved over several generations with this SX2 model being the latest version of the speaker. (The Motive SX2 Series is current in the Neat lineup.)

This is the shorter of the two floorstanders in the Motive SX range, the SX2 is nevertheless a compact and elegant model. At only 30 inches high, the Motive SX2 is an exceptionally compact floorstander for those who want all the musical performance of a Neat floorstander without taking over the living room. It will blend discreetly into any living room whilst its performance gives little away to larger and more expensive models.

This loudspeaker uses a two way configuration, with the bass/midrange driver and the tweeter operating within a sealed enclosure. The sub-bass drive unit is housed separately in a reflex-tuned section below. The bass reflex port is fitted to the bottom panel of the cabinet and is vented through an outlet in the stylishly sculpted MDF plinth.

In spite of the compact dimensions, the Motive SX1 manages to accurately reproduce genuinely low bass notes with spacious and well-focused stereo imagery.

The tweeter is the new and upgraded unit used throughout the Motive SX range and features a huge screened magnet assembly and a 25mm inverted anodised aluminium dome. This type of tweeter is usually only found in more expensive high-end loudspeakers and is therefore an exceptional inclusion to the Motive SX designs.

Neat Acoustics has been hand crafting outstanding loudspeakers since 1989 in the Northeast of England. (Trivia: For those who may not know, NEAT actually stands for "Northeast Audio Traders") Their initial widely acclaimed success came with the original Neat Petite, Neat’s fantastic interpretation of the well known BBC LS3/5A studio monitor. More recently, many may know of Neat’s unique, ground breaking Iota Series of loudspeakers.

Perhaps Neat Acoustics’ best known feature is their commitment to pace, rhythm, attack and timing (PRAT), along with an uncanny ability to recreate correct musical timbre. Further, while they are rated with a moderate sensitivity rating, Neat speakers yield a benign (flat) impedance making them easy to drive with modest powered tube or solid state gear. The sound of SX5i’s is extremely open with a large image, deep base, and palpable 3D sound stage.
