This is a late model Otari MX–5050B3-2, known as the Standard-Bearer of professional tape machines used in production environments all over the world. This unit is fully serviced and calibrated to specs with full alignment to MRL reference. As the latest versions of the MX-5050 family, this B3-2, manufactured in 1992, also has some nice upgrades that include custom wood side panels and NAB Hubs. Whether new to reel-to-reel tape playing or a seasoned Audiophile, getting this flawless OTARI BIII-2 player will take you to an ultimate level in both R2R playback and recording.
The MX5050 BIII has long been the standard in 1/4′′ two-track analog recorders. It features an optimized three-head design and transformerless balanced inputs and outputs to provide superior frequency response, low distortion and high signal-to-noise performance under the most demanding conditions. Record setup adjustments can be made from the front panel, and a convenient built-in oscillator provides test tones for calibration/maintenance. The direct drive capstan motor is servo-controlled, and an integral microprocessor governs tape handling, including dynamic braking, motion sensing and transport logic. A built-in mini-autolocator provides three one-touch cue-point memories, search zero, and a repeat function.
Ideally, this is a pickup preferred item, however at the buyer's insistence we will support special handling services to get this special machine to you anywhere in the US.
